I really enjoyed this vision of the future. It feels optimistic without ignoring today's problems, and all the little everyday details made the world feel genuinely lived in rather than just idealized.
I'm curious was there one specific Solarpunk idea that inspired this piece, or did the vision come together from lots of different influences over time?
thank you so much for your thoughtful comment 💚 there wasn’t a single Solarpunk idea inspiring this piece, more the overall aesthetic and idea of Solarpunk combined with matriarchal thinking. I basically looked at a bunch of problems we’re facing in 2026 and tried to come up with realistic solutions that would make these issues obsolete while also showing the absurdity of the sheer ignorance by most politicians regarding these issues
I think this work is so important. Check out Diane di Prima’s Opening Address as San Francisco’s Poet Laureate. It’s in the book The Poetry Deal and published by City Lights.
Her talking of how they had almost made SF back in the 60s.
